Sumita’s legal journey has been marked by hands-on exposure to both transactional and litigation practices. She began her professional training as a Legal Intern at Messrs Vas & Co in 2021, where she gained practical insight into banking and debt recovery matters, particularly in servicing institutional clients as part of the firm’s bank panel. She also participated in employment related advisory work for the Human Resource Development Corporation, enhancing her knowledge in compliance, statutory contributions, and employer obligations.
In 2023, Sumita embarked on her pupilage at Peters Chambers, where she assisted primarily in conveyancing matters, drafting and preparing documents such as the Memorandum of Transfer, Memorandum of Charge, Discharge of Charge, Apportionment, and Sale & Purchase Agreements. She also contributed meaningfully to minor litigation and estate matters, including Letters of Administration, caveat removals, will drafting, and cause paper preparation. Her responsibilities extended to legal research, case analysis, document translation, and transcribing court proceedings, reflecting a comprehensive foundation in legal practice. Throughout her training, Sumita has demonstrated a meticulous work ethic, a strong grasp of legal documentation, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
